Brave New World- When asked what I would do differently if I was to do this art project over again I would have to have made it a little more refined. The whole process was a little bit of an experiment because I've never worked with canvas and ink before. The words that are written in aren't perfectly aligned or straight, they curve and have a little of a angle to them. I would have also made it so the quote's within the man himself were a little smaller so it could make him a little bit more of a solid black, instead of having gaps of white where the letters are spaced. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with my project, I would suggest to incoming freshman to think of something super original and beautiful, something that pops out at final exhibition. Also to put a lot of thought and meaning into what you're creating and how exactly it correlates to the Brave New World Project. Birds Eye View- This is the finished product of the pre-historic animation project we did within Digital Arts. My partner and i based our Adobe Flash animation off of the discovery of the birds eye view perspective. We drew the running buffalo frame by frame, and from there we had to scan those drawings into the computer and adjust them in Photoshop. We then inserted them into Adobe Flash. The procedure in which you had to use to learn Adobe Flash was very challenging and hard to understand at first. The basics of comprehending flash starts with learning how to maneuver the frames within the timeline. From there importing your drawings and pictures into flash and being able to insert them into your actual animation. From there, you can use tricks like the shape tween and the motion tween, which allows you to change shapes and move objects, (size and position). You usually do not put your work straight into Flash, but adjust it in Photoshop first. The process is very tedious and time consuming, but Flash is a valuable tool to know how to use for the future. Xtranormal.com Animation- This is the very beginning of our Animation project. We were required to create this as an introduction to the course; we will later be creating our very own animation in which we choose between the classic frame by frame animation with drawing, or stop motion animation to exemplify our knowledge of prehistoric art history. Self Portrait Project - There were only two requirements to this project, there was no rubric. First that you base it off of a picture or photo of yourself, and second that it was to be printed out in Photoshop. The purpose of my self-portrait was to express how I wanted people to see me. I wanted to have them see me not through my outer shell,( how I look), but through my thoughts, emotions, opinions, ideas, and beliefs. I wanted for people to see me at a more personal level then what they would've seen in just a glance. This was why I took a close up shot of myself, to express that want for other people to see me at a deeper level. I turned my eyes blue, (which is by the way, the color of my eyes), to show that I want them to at least base their judgement of me through my character and who I am as a person. Teacher/Animal Poster with Photoshop- -For this project each student had to paste the head of a teacher onto a body of an animal or person successfully and paste it into a background. For extra credit we could paste an object into the scene. This project was very enjoyable, it really let you use your creativity and explore the tools in Photoshop. -I suggest to the incoming students who are doing this project to really take the time to learn the tools and what they do. I had a hard time finding the tools I needed for my project and it took up a lot of time that I needed. Color Theory- These pictures are examples of all the different color schemes that we have had to study in digital arts before being able to start any of our projects. Our teacher wanted us to have an idea and a sense of how to use colors and make them look more interesting and captivating. The examples here are the following... 1)Monochromatic 2)Complementary 3)Analogous 4)Warm&Cool - I also included THE COLOR WHEEL and the examples of Primary, Tertiary, and Secondary colors within the example. Understanding Light This is a great video to watch for understanding light while in photography or even just for taking pictures. The subject of lighting within photography was a subject I had very little experience with, so it was great to really understand these concepts and tips. After watching this video, we were able to have the chance to go out into the community and take pictures based on the examples of different types of light. Art Elements and Principles- This was the very first topic we concentrated on. Our teacher wanted us to know the basic principles and elements of art first, so obviously we could apply them to our artwork in further projects. This subject included making a poster, (in my case, since I was one of three partners instead of two, we made two posters), and learning all the principles and elements of art. Different Effects of Text with Photoshop- Within this mini-project we had to create three different types of text within Photoshop. We had to transform a regular text into the effect that it was gel; we had to take a graphic picture and turn it into text, and lastly create a text that is transparent in the background. Three examples of what I did in this project are to the left. |
